The idea of establishing a food bank was brought forward by one of the sisters in our community. She carried out the planning and execution all by herself while using AlSadaqa for resources and support. Sr. Pashmeena is now a full-time member of AlSadaqa.

AlSadaqa is very excited to announce the launch of its Food Bank project. We believe this program adds critical value to the community.
The first mobile operation was held at the Somali Youth and Family Club (SYFC) in June. Food was distributed to about 55 families. These families had registered with SYFC in advance. This had several advantages. It eliminated the need for the participants to stand in line for obtaining food. In addition, it helped us arrange for the right amount of food (eliminating shortage or waste).
In future, we plan to hold the distribution events on a monthly basis and at different locations.
